Darién Calima is a municipality in the department of Valle del Cauca, whose name «Calima» refers to the fog, and it is the third-largest municipality by surface area in the Valle, after Buenaventura and Dagua. The main economic activities of this municipality are livestock farming and agriculture, growing tomato, bell pepper, cassava, banana, corn, coffee, panela cane, and beans. In addition, this municipality has become one of the country’s leading tourist destinations, with Lake Calima (lago Calima) as its main attraction. It is one of the municipalities with the third-fastest winds in the world and the fastest in Colombia year-round, which is why national and international windsurfing and sailing championships are held here. It comprises the Bravo River and Calima River basins, with most of the Cerbatana mountain range.
