Buenaventura 
Buenaventura is the second most populous city in the department after Cali, making it the largest in the Pacific region and in land area within Valle del Cauca. It is located on the Pacific Ocean, on the shores of the Bay of Buenaventura, where more than 54% of the country’s international trade passes through, since it is home to Colombia’s main seaport. The highway connecting to Buenaventura is a dual carriageway, allowing travel to other cities such as Armenia, Medellín, and Bogotá, and is best known as “La Vía al Mar” (The Road to the Sea). Traveling by road from the city of Cali, the distance is 114 km, separated by the Western Cordillera of the Andes, where a wide variety of geographies and a contrast of climates and landscapes come together.
