Jamundí, the Land of Cholado
Other names: Land of Cholado (Tierra del Cholado).
Jamundí boasts seven rivers and other smaller streams that flow throughout the municipality’s urban and rural areas, and it is also home to some of the most important watersheds in Valle del Cauca. Gold, coal, silver, and associated sulfide mines are worked in this municipality, alongside other economic activities such as agriculture, livestock farming, mining, and trade. It is one of the 42 Colombian municipalities that make up the department of Valle del Cauca, located in the southern region of the department within the Cali Metropolitan Area.
