What to Do in Jamundí: Rivers, Swimming Spots, and the Home of Cholado

Jamundí, Cali's southern neighbor, is the birthplace of cholado and a town of rivers: the Jordán, Jamundí, Claro, Guachinte, Timba, and Pital rivers flow down from the Western Cordillera and form swimming holes and riverside spots less than an hour from the city. This guide sums up what to do in Jamundí in a day: where to swim, where to try a good cholado, and how to get there. Rivers and swimming spots

Jamundí’s rivers are the weekend plan for many families from Cali. Among the best-known swimming spots in the municipality are Charco Escondido, Río Claro, and Puente Vélez, and there are riverside venues with services such as Balneario Las Brisas (page in Spanish). Mountain rivers can rise suddenly when it rains upstream: if the water rises or turns murky, get out immediately.

If you prefer pools and facilities, the Comfandi Pance Country Club is at kilometer 17 of the Cali–Jamundí road. More options in our list of ecoparks and swimming spots in Valle del Cauca.
