About Cristo Rey Eco-Park, Cali: Opening Hours, How to Get There and What to See
Cristo Rey Eco-Park is Cali’s best-known viewpoint: free entry and a panoramic view of the whole city from the Cerro de los Cristales, in the western hills. The statue of Christ is 26 metres tall, and the eco-park has trails, viewpoints and guided walks.
Status after the earthquake (checked on 26 September 2026): after the earthquake of 10 August 2026, the Dagma (Cali’s environmental authority) inspected the park and reopened the monument area (Tramo 5) and the San Fernando trail (Tramo 2) on 22 August. Tramo 3, the trail between the Cristales neighbourhood and the Plazoleta del Yarumo, remains closed as a precaution while its metal walkways are repaired (Alcaldía de Cali, 21 August 2026).

What to see and do
- Panoramic view of Cali: the viewpoint overlooks the whole city, the Cauca Valley and the Western Cordillera.
- Nature trails: signposted trails through native sub-Andean forest. Tramo 3 is closed for now (see the status note above).
- The monument: the 26-metre statue with open arms is visible from many parts of the city. It was made by the Italian sculptor Alideo Tazzioli and inaugurated in 1953.
Practical tips
- Wear comfortable clothes and trainers; there is an uphill walk.
- Bring water (in a reusable bottle), sunscreen and insect repellent.
- Mornings are the best time to visit: clearer skies and fewer people.
- Weekends are busier; arrive early to get a parking space.
- Check the Dagma channels for trail status before you go.
